Kochot Day off

Well, another week has passed and time sure does fly when you’re having fun. Maccabia broke this week as we are writing this newsletter, all we can hear are team cheers and laughter. The campers were all given a t-shirt in their team colors, and have already played team games and participated in the super fun swim meet. The weather, food and activities have continued to be fabulous, and the campers are all having an incredible time here at Camp Kadimah.
July 17 was a special day in the Kochot section, because we did something that Kochot rarely does. We went on a sectional day off! Bright and early in the morning, we ate breakfast and loaded three buses and headed to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia to visit the Atlantic Fisheries Museum. This museum was both fun and educational as the campers and staff learned about the heritage and importance of lobster fishing in Atlantic Canada. There were aquariums, and touch-tanks that housed many types of fish and marine life that allowed for the children to get up close and personal with them.
We then boarded a fishing boat where we learned how to trap and catch lobsters. After an in-depth analysis of the inner working of the lobster trap, the campers were able to handle and take pictures with the lobsters and crabs that were caught. After our adventures in Lunenburg, we headed towards Rizzers Beach, where the kids got a chance to jump in the Atlantic waves and play in the sand. We enjoyed several hours of the beach, with lots of frisbee and football tossing. After a long, jam-packed day, we returned to camp, showered our sandy bodies and crashed in our beds. We had a wonderful day and can’t wait to see what the summer has in store for us next!
We cannot believe that camp is flying by so quickly, and that Visitor’s Day is in a few days. The campers are counting down the days until they see you, and we as well are looking forward to meeting you all next Sunday. We hope you are having a great summer, and will see you soon.
